Illustrated Firmament

I turned
To see
What the sky
Had become
For me

I stared
And wished
That that minute
Would become
Infinite

Been a long time since I've seen hues of that type in the sky - all we see these days is shades of grey. Never thought I'd say this...but I guess it's time to start singing "Rain rain go away, come again next year!"...oh well, atleast move up north!
Your image made me also linger and wish time would stop at just such a moment - just for a bit, not too long mind you!

PS = Hehe, if you were to say what Weetabix secretly wishes for, there'd be alot more ppl thronging this blog:-)

English August... what you're written with that picture makes no sense whatsoever (to me).
Do people HAVE TO write poetry along with a picture?

have u altered tht pic?

it looks soo surreal.

cool lines..

You know what? When I get a chance to look at the sky, I tell the person sitting next to me… WOW, look at that!

If it’s my mom, she says… Hmm… without even looking

If it’s my sis, she says… nothing

If it’s my dad, I don’t even say it aloud

If my niece overhears, she says… havent you seen the red sky before? I have.

nice pic mate.. not sure abt the poem as usual tho...maybe i'm just not a poem fan...

but nice pic

Ram said...

for resons not known, whenever i've seen a deep red sky, i feel something is wrong..

but guess one can understand why you would wish for a sky eternally surreal like this..

breathtaking picture, wonderfully expressed with words :)

A, I wished too, so many times..and when I was a child, I'd close my eyes like the shutter of a camera & I'd want to capture it forever..trying to see it with my eyes closed..
And btw, I really hope you're not who people think you may be.

There is so much to see in that sky, and nothing at all. Since you felt the infinite moment, it felt more peaceful than cluttered.

i can remember, of many sunset skies, I wished if time would freez and just be the eternity. I get intoxicated by coulds-sky-sunlight promenade.
Btw, It's august starting from today!

hey come over to my blog this week i am celebrating friendship week

jaded said...

wouldnt it be lovely if time stood still and you could treasure the moment forever...
then i feel the moment wouldnt be so treasured if it became a familiar feeling....
strange but beautiful ways of nature. and bravo, you have captured the feel, the very essence...marvellous shot

Anonymous said...

now this is a breathtaking shot...and I agree beautfiul moments like this should be infinite...if that is what you are refering to?

Paul said...

I've had that sense of sudden connection to the sky too.

I think that this is my favourite so far.

wow what a stunning picture.
what had become of you? beauty.

manababies said...

This is an absolutely stunning photo. And knowing how quickly sunsets fade, you captured this one at the perfect moment. Don't you wish scenes like this can last an eternity?

Anonymous said...

Feels like that photograph has captured a single heartbeat and kept it still ... but only for a moment.

Though very 'vintage "A"' this one,i liked it for reasons more than one.

---> the pic ofcourse!it does seem unreal but gives me a feel that ive seen it before....sometime in the past.

---->there are times i've felt what this "truly conman" says, why push words into pics when the pic conveys meaning anyway.

But this one asked for words,to complement the beauty the colours convey.

"I turned
To see
What the sky
Had become
For me"

How wud it be if you could replace "the sky" with "my sky".....?

"I stared
And wished
That that minute
Would become
Infinite"

the 'minute' you are talking about probably is beyond just the treat the sky offered then.....?

loved it :)

Thats shot is utterly stunning, as is the piece accompanying it. Words are not enough. :)

Weetabix - Thanks for stumbling by. do drop in again. As for the RB question, I leave that unanswered. :-)

Geetanjali - Never for too long but should linger around enough.

Yours Truly...Conman - It doesn't need to make sense all the time to everyone. I guess writing around a picture is a personal choice. It does not always have to be poetry.

Poison, musafir - Shot it that way with a little underexposure to get the effect. No touching up.

irina - Yes, it can.

J - :-)

jawaher, The Arbit Council, AmitKen, mermaid, thoughts, Mystique, Anne, Lorena, Ash - Thanks.

Ram - I know others who feel the same.

Itineranting - As I said, I leave that question unanswered. But why do you hope not?

Lancelot'sTake, Extempore, Gangadhar Ambati - Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Look forward to seeing you again.

venus - Yes it is the month! :-)

kaashyapeya - Depends on what you plan to do with it. If it is for your blog - a credit and link is enough for you to copy. ;-)

paddy - Will do.

jaded - Thanks for your words. Very nice.

Anil - Yes, that is what I was referring to.

Paul - It is a good feeling.

D - Thanks. No one has ever said that before! :-)

manababies - Yes, and they only last a minute.

Samudraa - Thanks for your perspective. See my comments above about words and pics. Interesting suggestion on "the sky".

transience - *bows*

Wonderful! You capture that moment when we see a perfect sky so well, and so simply, so succinctly. The title is excellent as well. It is really part of the poem, because it explains the suject matter. The notion of an "illustrated" or painted firmament is perfect.

unfortunatly it is not my blog A but i feel it is , may be cos im in love with that blog as well as ur blog 2 :)...i dont have blog yet

Anonymous Poet - Thanks. The title indeed is a part of the poem.

There are so many times when we wish that the 'moment' would become infinite....its just that you turned to look at the sky!
Are you real? You write like a dream........
