Years later

It was time.

Years had gone by. They had passed in instants. In little pieces. Bit by bit.

He stared outside. Through the translucent white material, that was cloaked in hues of gold, from the rays of the sun. The rays that were struggling to get in. But getting muffled. By the cloth lapping them up in fluid dance movements.

The years did not come back. The moments did not come back. But the feelings did. Because they were deep. They went beyond memories.

He thought back to those first moments. But they were also cloaked. In halos. Bright lights coming in the way of detailed memories. Just faces and smiles. The rest struggled. It was muffled by the light and the moments. It was the same moment played over and over again.

Bit by bit. The little pieces had their own meaning. The instants did not always have to add up to a whole. The years did not have to connect to each other.

It was time.

Yeah ....time to remove the cloak and confront the truth ...may be...!!!

How true. Bit by bit, fragments of life are lived, and lost. They do not have to all exist in a conscious memory. They do not have to even exist. And they do not have to connect. They do not make up a whole, because they don't need to. They're soaked in lights sublime and muffled, distinct and gagged. And they don't come back. Yet they make our life. Bit by Bit.

It is time, and time is everything.

Very well written .:a:.

You've got such an interesting style of writing. I wonder why I never came across your blog before. It's a great read!

Exquisitely written.

Memories that carry elated emotions have a tendency to overshadow what is best left in the dark corners of a turned page: a chapter in one's book of life.

It is time we celebrate the precious past that makes us who we are today by acknowledging its presence BUT remembering to live in the present.

Because time is everything (thank you, Phoenix).

Memories... pictures on the wall , play long shadows, every shadow bringing back memories, but hazy memories, though you try to define they are only shadows.... of the by gone moments and years.

Memory and how it's shaped into more than memory is certainly one of your major themes. Brings to mind Wordworth's definition of poetry: emotion recollected in tranquility.

Moments are lost to us forever, you can only capture them in false ways, like photos.

Yes. At times i surprise myself when i get a feeling of 'deja vu' which i am able to map to the times of which i thought i don't have memories of.

reliving the moments mutes the pain and mellows the memories.
beautiful imagery u have painted here.
excellent post.

beautiful. time slips past and never comes back ... the footprints it leaves never fade

I guess it's a good thing that memories aren't as time, being bound to progressing so linearly, one moment after the previous one. It's a blessing, that memories aren't bound in such way, letting every memory of every moment have an intensity all it's own.

eeriely (sp?) appropriate considering I just celebrated a birthday. wow!

Light is reflected, refracted, or absorbed, as are the years of memories. We are affected differently by each memory, but as you said, we are nevertheless affected, whether the moments add up or not. Another astute metaphor.
