A photograph (and fifty five words)
The flickering light danced and created shadows along the wall.
These five pieces had disappeared years ago. Each one carried a secret. Carefully etched, in the patterns that they held, on their surface.
One clue, led to another.
But, they were only clues.
The answer, lay in the lantern.
But, no one cared to look.

is this a photograph or is it magic?
interesting food for thought...
ps: photu is too creative...
the 55 words are a perfect companion to this beautiful picture. like there really is a secret--something you want to see beyond what you already see.
i simply love the photograph! where do u get 'em!!!
the 55 words are very imaginative too. as expected u don't tag anyone.
i like this one better than ur previous 55. the picture is sheer magic. takes u to another world.:)
Hail to u!
answer is always in the light!!!
Well, this time, I wont ask where the pic was taken :)
Agreed, it doesnt matter. Its beautiful, thats wat matters!
And yes, the story is good too. I have been tagged to do this.. will give it a shot, though I'm no storyteller :p
beautiful pic.. like the way the lantern creates the shadows in the pic..
and truly enough as your words say, there lies the truth while one searches the shadows..
Great play of light, and great play in words.
"...I lie there and I see the light on the frame and on the wall until I don’t see the frame and the wall, and I only see the light. " -by yours truly, February Archive
THAT was the magic for me because it was there that I saw the truth...no longer a secret, but the truth.
Beautiful.
I see that the words are crisp and not too layered. That's a new thing. Reading your blog after a long time and it made for good reading. :) I like this version of you!
Prerona, Deez - :-)
chaos, transience, aristera says, Phoenix, Ram, the woman, :..M..: - Thanks.

Cecilia - Wow. I must go back to your archives and read the rest.
came to this blog after a long time and a really well presented post . the way u present the picture adds to its magical appearance .
"The answer, lay in the lantern.
But, no one cared to look." thats what magic is - illusion.
nice to see you back to your favourite genre : mystery, intrigue.
i like!
liked it very much , wud have done better without a photo but then would it have the impact?
cheers
Very enigmatic. Very mysterious. Very oriental.
(Seems like there are plenty of 55 word monsters out there ;-))
the answer lay in the lantern
but no one dared to look.....excellent!!!
i have missed soo much!!
great picture!
Been searching for the right words since morning. And they all don't fit... or at least not quite as well as the image and the words.
Really, really gorgeous, .:A:.
And yes, I quite see your point about the location of the previous image not mattering. :)
Is it in the picture or the words, I am looking for something which keeps me coming back to this post.
Hope i will find it the next visit. Now i have to get back to work
ohhhhh, what a poignant metaphor and message to all of us...
and a lovely piece...
Is there any particular meaning to the fifty-five words? Versus fity-six words? Or some other number?
I take away a sense of loneliness from the piece. People are only scratching the surface and fail to follow the clues toward the inner secret. Splendid imagery.
That's a fantatsic photograph ! :)
hello..its been such a long time since I was here.
was missing the regular does of creation and connection from you :)
wonderful subject of ur photograph.the lighting is really perfect !
Well , u cared to look and so did a lot of ppl through ur eyes !
The source is always more beautiful than what it creates, if you know what I mean and if I understand what you mean :))
your picture has become a story, now I'm intreaged, what is behind them
Cool - and really quite biblical in tone...
every little thing has a secret, only if we dare to find.
this is near mystical, reminding me of plato's republic.
your posts are like magic sparked by divine creativity!
truly beautiful.
you always make me think, and stretch my mind beyond...
i remember my friend telling me about a book that was full of many 55 words stories....i definitely liked the one you wrote here with your words & the photograph made it even more mysterious revealing more that still is unknown. wonderful!!
You are taking me back to Alf Laila Wa Laila
iamnasra
hey, really long time since i've been here but the same magic is stii there...picture is just perfect
hehehe.. so i c aristera grabbed u into de mouth of de Fifty Five Word Abyss! ;-)
nice. especially de pots and pans walla. ;-)
Did my 55, and like you, got addicted and did another one :)
Though unlike you, my story telling skills are quite pathetic :P
gorgeous picture - feels Moroccan to me, but what do I know? Not that it matters, the poem it inspired is just as wonderful. The 2 compliment each other perfectly.
ohh.. dont we all just like leaving clues.. and make paper trails? now.. in there you'd see who's really "looking carefully" *wink
perfect...both the words and the picture.

The lighting is haunting and myserious. You photograph very interesting angles with expertise.
The 55 words you chose captilize on this well.
(I also enjoyed your creative proflie prose description.)
