In Sepia

Blinded by the light, you move on, back towards where you begun your journey. The tunnel bursts into the world that you know and have seen before. Just barely. You are back to the familiar. The light.

The past few days flash back in sepia memories. A mélange of photographs that run through your brain in its own slide show culminating in now. And now, you look out and suddenly realise that there is no more colour. The past has blended into the present and you are looking out at the world in sepia. It hits you, how you see the world. In your own light. In your own sepia tones that blend the present with the past. Memories being created the very moment you live them. In sepia.

I have read it about three times already and each line makes me want to linger on that particular line for longer.
The past has blended into the present and you are looking out at the world in sepia. i think this is what is meant by creating your own world. the world through you.
Memories being created the very moment you live them. In sepia.
there is something tantalising abuot this post, like a meaning which is not immdiately clear.

the picture is faboulous! it is a post in itself, it has a character, a mood. good on you!

sneha - Thanks. I caught it while I was traveling.

chaos - Glad you liked it so.

true, life looses its real colour in memories. only some feelings, some words and an over riding sepia tone remains.

and to ad, that is damn good picture

back to your best in terms of marrying words and images..!!

interestingly in the last post that transience has made, she has a similar remark about not being able to place the color of a flower she was nostalgic about..

memories in sepia.. so strange yet true..

manu - Exactly. Thanks.

gulnaz - Thanks.

Phoenix - My pleasure. Will read as much as I can for now. :-)

Ram - Thanks. Yes, I read that post and wrote a comment on that line being very familiar to me.

wow! dunno what to say - this is beyond brilliant! im blinded by the photographs!

how did you take it?

Anonymous said...

very dramatic pic...suits the tone of your words perfectly...

Keep looking at the world the way you do. You are a shining example of "home is what you take with you, not where you are."

atomicvelvetsigh said...

how is that, that whenever i read your words i feel i am one with them? the picture only spices things up but the words are far more important. what lies beneath those lines? what awe could inspire to attach that picturesque place? what brilliance could flame up the light?

yes, i too am blinded by the light.

"Memories being created the very moment you live them"

So true, yet not every one of them is memorable....

great pic!

You're words are so right on target for me, esp right now. The words are harder to come up with then the photos for me, that is unless I think about it too much. You don't seem to have the problem, your words are so strong and significant. I like the way you sometimes separate the two elements and let them stand on thier own. Anyways, great writing here!

Memory, turn your face to the moonlight
Let your memory lead you
Open up, enter in
If you find there the meaning of what happiness is
Then a new life will begin

.:A:., forgive the extensive quoting.

Of all your posts I have read, this is, I think, one of my favourite-est! :)

Pre - Welcome. Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Just aimed and shot at something that I thought was interesting, pretty much how I shoot everything else. :-)

Anil, Brood Mode, Gypsy Girl - Thanks.

mermaid - *bows*

atomicvelvetsigh - Glad you can connect with the words. Not sure if even I know the answers to your questions. Unless they were, rhetorical.

Extempore - Actually, thanks for the extensive quoting. I quite enjoyed it. :-)

.....'You move on. Back towards where you began ur journey '.....was the journey in vain then....or was coming back the goal?

You mention a poem by some one on Gulnaz's blog where is it? I would like to read it.

. : A : . said...

Sue hardy-Dawson - I am not sure where I mentioned that or in what context. Can you let me know, then maybe I can help?

Sue hardy-Dawson said...

Hi there A this is what you said on Nasra's blog no wonder I confused you 'Nice poems appreciating poetry. Am sure you have read the one by Neruda. Will go over to LIP now to see more!'

Anonymous said...

Ah, as lovely as ever.

. : A : . said...

Sue hardy-Dawson - It is called 'Poetry' by Pablo Neruda. You can google it and have a look. I don't want to post the whole thing here because of copyright violation. ;-)

Ph - Thanks!

human mind is lot more complex than we can imagine. We imagine colors even when there are no colors, good observation!

venus - Yes, good point.

made me sad! poignant, for sure but i didnt like reading it because it felt too real. aint it interesting how each one of us can relate to these words in our own way....

Wbix - Very interesting indeed how everyone takes away something different from the writing each time.
