maybe because the tall building in the background looks very much like the empire state building? the building that the climax is all about. btw i cud keep on at it because i love the movie and also the original classic it is based on "an affair to remember" starring the awesome cary grant *drool* and deborah kerr. yes im a sappy romantic with a passion for the classics. *grin*

Wow, this pic reminds me alot of a place I used to have dinner when I was in Kuwait. I was sitting exactly near the window like the silhouettes and the crystals had a strange filter that gave the impression of rain outside, to contrast the actual dryness of the wind. It is so special. I love it. It brought me those memories. Thanks!

Lovely picture.
Going through your blog and I must say you write very well, quite insightful.

A recurring theme in your pics [at least it seems like that to me] of dark contrasting against light..the light ghostly trees against the black inky sky and so on...
It reminds me of the duality in all of us..the dark against the light..

agree with pincushion....its silent motif....a dark great unknown??

WOW, I wish I could find scenes like that here in Cottage Grove. I have to settle for a lot of nature shots. Beautiful shot of the city. It also feels very intimate to me. Great work!

Very nice. Funny how this shot reminds several of us of a city we've experienced. It reminds me of Skies' restaurant at Crown Center, here in KC.

On a lesser note: A, whenever you comment on my blog, I don't receive the usual email notification. I just stumble across your comments (sometimes days later)... It's like you're surfing under the radar. ;) Any explanation for your cloak of invisibility? (Anyone else experiencing this?)

Akshay, dewdrop - Yes, it does remind me too of Sleepless in Seattle. I think dewdrop has hit the nail on the head. It is probably because of the tall building in the background.

Pandora - Nice to know that the picture could bring back special memories. Do you have a picture of the place which was similar?

:..M..: - Thanks for dropping by. Look forward to having you come back! :-)

Pincushion, ubermensch - Yes, I do like pictures that have contrast. I find them more striking and they give more to think about. Will post some more soon.

Queen Mo - Thanks. I don't live in this city [but I do live in another beautiful city ;)]. It is a picture from my travels last week.

Jessica - Thanks. And I would like to take more nature shots! :-)

Ariel - Again, do you have a picture of the Skies' restaurant. I would like to see places which this picture makes you remember. I have no idea on the commenting bit. It has happened to me earlier too with others, though not with the same person again and again. Let me try commenting again and see what happens. :-)

Garrison Steelle, wandering dervish - Thanks and glad you liked it!

:A:, I wish I had at least one picture of that place. But I am planning to go there soon, so whenever I go I will get some shots and then you will understand.
As for the commenting thing, I have to say that whenver you post a comment on my blog, I can't see your email address while I can see the others. But probabably it is due to the fact that maybe you don't share your email at Blogger? I am just supposing, not sure.

Be well.

'Silent Silhouettes'...how very appropriate....the picture is so very nice...unlike the others it conjures up in me images of quiet evenings spent drinking coffee and indulging in small talk with an old friend about absoultely nothing and perhaps watching the rain clouds gather on the horizon.

Sadly, I don't have any photos of Skies close to hand. The last time I was there I proposed to my wife, so I was a little preoccupied. :) Maybe next time...

(Nope, your comments still aren't "showing up." Strange.)

Pandora - Will look forward to the picture. Yes, I don't share my email at blogger for comments, though it is there on my profile page.

Anil - You weave a nice image from the picture. Thanks for sharing.

Ariel - I am sure next time you won't be as preoccupied. ;-) Think I have figured out the comments thing. Have posted one with my theory so have a look!

oh wow. (said with an amazed child like voice)
It's captures how unreal life can be sometimes. Like a photo of a memory... not the present. mmmm. wow.

I think you should post a picture of yourself and write a story to it.

Cori - Thanks. Would have loved to do that but I can't. Want to keep myself anonymous and want the writing to stand out separately. Maybe some day ... ;-)
