Ephemeral Moments

Bit by bit, he put together the pieces of what had happened over the last week.

"Honestly, even if I could, I would not change a single thing that has happened since I met you."

His thoughts were mostly on the last twenty four hours.

"I am not sure what we have, or what it is becoming, but I don't want it to stop."

He played the scene again and again in his mind.

"I never thought that this was going to reach now, so soon, and today."

That very moment, when it had happened, out of the blue.

"I never thought that I'd be telling you this tonight."

The confession, coming out, off his chest, and into her mind.

"The person I was talking about the other night, was you."

Then, time froze, and everything was still, except her.

"I don't know what to say anymore."

And she looked deeply into his eyes.

"I don't know if I have you, but I don't want to lose you."

Well Said! I guess this has to be autobiographical to be so deep in the narrative.Anyways so far have seen your comments in others blogs but you have a good world of your own.Nice.

BTW English August is my one of my all time faves.

Garrison Steelle, Phal, Jessica, Havokinthemind - Thanks. Glad you could relate.

dewdrop, ubermensch, Queen Mo, Paddy - Thanks. Fortunately, or unfortunately, this is mostly imagination. I say 'mostly', because nothing is pure imagination (according to me) and we draw from experiences or inspirations. ;-)

Zee - Thanks. Yes, these short moments have a knack of becoming very long inside the head.

Sara - Yes, it can. I left it purposely, for the reader to choose the direction they want to see this go in.

Paddy - Thanks for dropping by and commenting. Will drop by your blog soon.

Whow! Jumped straight in there.
Must have been an intimate setting, yeh?
Typically, a 'candle lit' dinner vibe?

Anyway, I felt a bit dry reading it, but the last sentence was a corker! i.e. quality.

I love it - the brief snippets create such a larger picture. A complete picture.

Phal, Pincushion - Thanks for the wishes.

gn0 - What I had in mind when I wrote it was not a 'candle lit' dinner. I was thinking of something very ordinary and extraordinary things happening. But yes, that is the natural thing to take away from this piece when you read it.

Diva Drip - Thanks. I agree with you that the brief snippets can create a much larger picture. A lot rests in the imagination of the reader!

Toni - Thanks! :-)

Oh, the tension mounting just like it does. Your vivid prose brings those precious recollections surging to the surface. Hear my heart? Thump, thump. Perfect title, too. (No, I didn't mix up years. I read past work when I hunger for more of a blogger's writing!)
