Blue vs. Blue

Light slanting through the same old make-shift cafe. But this time, a different scene. This time a tale of opposites, a tale of blue vs. blue. Back to Back.

I found this picture simple yet fascinating. So many opposites to observe, think and write about. But I thought that I’d let the picture speak for itself. For now.

Thoughts and observations invited, of course.

light, shade, age, contours- all in a fascinating yet routine contrast.a quick busy morning catching up with news versus a relaxed one, catching up with oneself.all that's common is the consumerist clutter in the background. and the coffee.and maybe the 'blues'...:)

"Ma'am, would you like to steal some coffee from me?", he asked turning towards the lady who was sitting opposite to him. She smiled and said...
"HUM??"

There is a symmetric difference if you look very carefully. Firstly both of them are sitting diagonally to each I guess that plays a great part in making the picture interesting to our eyes. Secondly if you notice the gentlemen in the left has coffee (I presume) place firmly on the table and he is looking up. Whereas the lady in the right is looking down at something (contrast) with coffee in her hand above the table. Therefore them one of them is looking outwards and other one looking inwards. And of course there is the blue

It's serendipity waiting to happen.

They're both disillusioned with love at the moment this picture was taken. He had lost his wife ten years back, and has picked up the pieces of her passing. She has never married but carried the torch of love within her -- a love unrequited, a love for her sister's husband.

They don't know it yet but these two are spending the rest of their loves together. It all begins when they stand from their seats at the same time and head out the cafe door together.

Hmmmm...so incomplete and yet so whole..two worlds contained within a single universe ! Yin and yang ? Are they just passing each other, islandd unto themselves or is life going to come a full circle with both coming face to face at some point ?! Yes, so many questions...

Nice shot! So much for profundity, I only have a second and wanted to chime in. Good photo work.

hmmmm contradiction has always been a favorite of mine and this image is dripping contradictions....I will have to think about the words I would use to paint that picture......

Where do I start? So much in all of the comments above. It is amazing how one picture can spark off so many thoughts.

wandering dervish, Pandora, Akshay, Free Spirit, Toni, Pincushion, Havokinthemind - Thanks for your visualization's of this picture. I like each one of them. So different and yet they completely fit in. Some of them really blew me away.

Somehow, now after reading all of them, I am now reluctant to write about this scene since there are so many ways in which you all have captured it.

cleolove - Yes, it is much more complicated than it first appears. That is exactly what got me clicking away.

Havokinthemind - Agree with you on the 'commonplace profundity' bit. Thanks and look forward to having you back.

Ariel - Thanks. Chime in when you can!

Jessica - Looking forward to hearing your words.

Thanks everyone, for your comments on this one. Really appreciate it.

Queen Mo - I know exactly what you mean when you say you are a 'feeling' person. I like your 'feeling' that they should face each other.
